Right now, Shady Encounters stands alone. However, I’ve grown attached to Kate and Sara, and readers have asked about seeing them again. If there’s enough interest, I’d love to write more about their careers with the CID.

I spent months researching trafficking networks, survivor accounts, and legal proceedings to ensure accuracy. While the characters and specific events are fictional, the methods and realities I describe reflect real trafficking operations.

They’re composites inspired by young women I’ve known throughout my life. Their determination and friendship reflect qualities I’ve seen in real people, but they’re entirely fictional characters.

Both cities offer rich history, distinct cultures, and international connections that fit the trafficking storyline. I wanted settings that felt real and added depth to the investigation without overshadowing the characters.

From initial research to final draft, about eighteen months. The research phase took longer than usual because I wanted to handle the subject matter responsibly.
